Cognitive Dissonance

The human brain is organized to quickly and efficiently find consistent patterns in our environment and behaviors of others. While this skill provided an evolutionary advantage, it makes us prone to bias, prejudice. and irrational decision making. This presentation will provide an overview of the neuroscience of “cognitive dissonance,” a state in which our brains are confronted with information that conflicts with our existing beliefs of what is true. Discover the impact this has on our interpersonal relationships, political views, and daily decisions.
