Children in the Biblical World

Julia O’Brien, the Paul H. and Grace L. Stern Chair in Old Testament Studies at Lancaster Theological Seminary, follows up on last year’s sessions that reviewed biblical perspectives on family and marriage. This lecture surveys what the Bible has to say about children. Drawing on close readings of the Bible as well as on recent work by archaeologists and sociologists, Dr. O'Brien explores how children were imagined and treated in the ancient cultures that produced the Bible.
